INTERVIEWS
Prepare for an interview without memorising a script
The aim is to explain your experience clearly and respond to the conversation. A polished introduction delivered too quickly is not always the most useful preparation.
Prepare a short introduction
Build an introduction of roughly one minute: your current or recent role, two relevant experiences and why the opportunity interests you. Use sentences you can say naturally.
Choose three real situations
Prepare an example of solving a problem, working with others and handling a difficulty. Cover the context, your responsibility, your actions and the outcome. Be clear about what you personally did and what the team contributed.
Practise clarification
Prepare a few ways to ask for more detail, check your understanding or take a moment to think. They are useful when a question is different from the one you rehearsed.
Run a focused mock interview
Use the real job description and the expected interview format. Time your answers, listen back and check whether someone unfamiliar with your work understands the essentials. Prepare your own questions about the role, team and next steps.
